Looking for a simple way to get outside this summer? Jumbo Adventure Co. offers kayak, paddle board, and fishing kayak rentals across Elgin County!!

They take care of all the details so you can focus on enjoying the water. I recently tried it out at Dalewood Conservation Area, and here’s what the experience was like...

Paddling made easy with Jumbo Adventures!

Jumbo Adventure Co. is a new business in St. Thomas offering kayak and paddle board rentals across the Elgin County area!

Their service is straightforward and convenient: they meet you right at the water with all the necessary safety gear and equipment, help you get started, and pick everything up from a pre-arranged end location. The staff is friendly, helpful, and focused on making sure your experience is safe and enjoyable from start to finish.

Each rental includes a waterproof phone lanyard that allows you to keep your phone secure while still being able to take photos or videos during your time on the water. They offer several launch locations, including Dalewood Conservation Area, Port Burwell, and Port Stanley, giving you the flexibility to choose the environment that suits your outing best.

This is an easy and affordable way to enjoy time outside, especially during the summer months! Whether you're heading out with friends or looking for a peaceful solo trip, kayaking or paddle boarding with Jumbo Adventure is a great way to spend time outdoors and experience local nature from a different perspective.

Alongside their paddle board and kayak rentals, Jumbo Adventure Co. also offers fishing kayak rentals for those looking to enjoy a more laid-back day on the water. These specially designed kayaks provide extra stability and are equipped to enhance your angling experience.

This option is perfect for solo fishers or anyone interested in trying something new!

Paddling through Dalewood: A Firsthand look

For my trip, a friend and I chose to go kayaking at Dalewood Conservation Area. The Jumbo Adventure team met us right at the launch spot and were welcoming and kind. You don’t need any prior experience—they walk you through everything and make sure you're comfortable and properly equipped before heading out.

Paddling through Dalewood was a great way to take in the natural beauty of the area. We saw a surprising amount of wildlife along the way, including turtles, blue herons, ducks, hawks, and more.

It’s an ideal spot for anyone who enjoys nature, birdwatching, or just being in a quieter, outdoor space. The kayaks themselves were very high quality. Each one came with a gel seat mat for added comfort, and the adjustable foot rests made it easy to find a comfortable paddling position, no matter your height. Everything felt clean, stable, and well taken care of!

Overall, the experience was smooth, relaxing, and fun. I’d recommend Jumbo Adventure Co. to anyone looking for a low-stress way to try something new, get outside, and enjoy what Elgin County has to offer.

What to bring for your trip!

To make the most of your kayaking or paddle boarding experience, it’s important to come prepared. Here are some essentials to bring along:

  • Sunscreen – Choose a water-resistant SPF and reapply as needed, especially on sunny days.
  • Protective clothing – A hat, sunglasses (with a strap if possible), a light long-sleeve coverup or rash guard can help protect you from the sun.
  • Water – Staying hydrated is key. Bring a full reusable water bottle and secure it in your kayak or board compartment.
  • Snacks – Pack light, easy-to-eat snacks like granola bars, trail mix, fruit, or protein bars, especially if you’re planning to be out for a while.
  • Quick-dry clothing or a bathing suit – You may get splashed or wet while paddling, so avoid heavy or cotton clothing.
  • Water shoes or sandals with straps – These make it easier to launch and get out of the water comfortably.
  • Bug Spray - Depending on the area you are paddling.

Check out their website for rental rates! You are able to rent for a couple hours or for the full day!
