If you are looking for a neighbourhood haunt to call your own (or you're just looking for an opportunity for a beer with friends), Caps Off Brewing Co. should definitely be on your list to check out. Located in the same building where Railway City Brewing was born, it's continuing the local tradition of craft brewing and highlighting some of the quirks that make us special.

Owners Rick and Fran Dunseith didn't initially set out to open a brewery. Brewing was just a hobby that grew...and grew...and grew. Between friends and family wanting to purchase and a general passion for perfecting and experimenting with different ideas, the couple set out on the path towards Caps Off. They certainly have some stories about the process; ask Fran about the Strawberry Taj sometime.

But at their core, Rick and Fran are about so much more than beer. They are about community "We want to make sure everyone knows that we want everyone to feel at home at Caps Off, a place to hang your hat if you will. We love to see families hanging out, dogs on the patio. It is so important, now more than ever, to maintain a healthy family bond. Knowing we can house that is so crucial to us. We aim to ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe in our wee little space."

The passion for the City and surrounding area is highlighted through their support of local artistic talent through featured artists on the walls and local musicians in your ears. Rick and Fran actively foster partnerships with other local small businesses and initiatives to build connections that continue to grow positive community - in the brewery and out.

What to try: Nothing but Hat Spicy Blonde. You likely won't taste the spicy kick initially because the beer is so smooth and mild. But hang on to your hat, it's evident after a few sips!

My go-to when I visit Caps off is always whatever is on tap with some fruity notes. It's always something special. Currently, that's the Cheeky Ngob Peach Basil Fruit Ale. While Fran's all-time favourite is the Mandagranate Beret, which Rick only brewed once! She's been trying to convince him to brew it again so more folks have a chance to try it. If you visit...maybe help her out?

But if you are really unsure what you might like to try, go straight for the fan favourite Under the Brim Cream Ale - it's a two time MyFM Spirit Award Winner for Favourite Local Beverage!
