🌲 Forest trails, camping, and nature in the heart of Elgin County.
Looking for the perfect mix of adventure and tranquility? Springwater Conservation Area, just outside of St. Thomas, is a year-round destination offering camping, hiking, picnicking, and nature exploration in one of the most beautiful forests in Southwestern Ontario. Explore 8 kilometres of scenic trails that wind through the Springwater Forest, a rare example of Carolinian woodland filled with interpretive signage, wildlife, and seasonal beauty. Whether you're hiking solo, bringing the family, or enjoying a group outing, the trails provide an accessible way to experience nature up close. The campground features full-service and unserviced sites, making it a great spot for both tent campers and RVs. In addition to camping and trails, the conservation area offers facility rentals, day-use areas, and events throughout the year, including the popular Springwater Maple Syrup Festival. Maintained by the Catfish Creek Conservation Authority, the Springwater Forest is a protected and cherished space. Visitors are asked to contribute a modest $2 per person trail fee, which directly supports the upkeep of the forest, trail maintenance, signage, and conservation efforts. Every dollar goes right back into protecting this natural treasure for generations to come. 🌟 What to Expect at Springwater Conservation Area:
