A new Shelter for St. Thomas
The City of St. Thomas is raising funds to build a new, modern animal shelter to enhance our Animal Services network. This facility will better support pet adoption, rescue, and rehabilitation efforts, in partnership with Southwold and Central Elgin.
From reuniting lost pets with their families to finding new homes for strays and helping wildlife in need, your support will make a big difference in the lives our our community's furry friends. |
How can Art Help?Art is forever one of the most therapeutic and joy inducing reasons to be alive. It allows you to feel and commemorate life, love, and experience. Whether it is commissioned to honour a beloved pet or simply brings a smile to your face, art fosters conversation and connection.
In St. Thomas and Elgin County we have such an incredible trove of artistic talent. We reached out to this wonderful community to help build both an opportunity for the public to engage in discovery during a rather dull time of year while simultaneously doing some good to raise funds and awareness for the wonderful new Animal Shelter in the works. |
In February 2025 several venues will open their doors to local artists who have lovingly created and donated works of art for viewing and purchase with all proceeds going directly to the new shelter project. Works will be available to view in person and available for sale in our online shop. At months end, purchased works will be available for pick up at Railway City Tourism for the adoption to be finalized.
Early in the new year we will post venues and a list of artists to look forward to viewing. Most pieces will be animal themed and includes original works, framed prints, and pottery- all by local artists.
