Yet another day, this April 8th, that illustrious ball of gas you all know and love rises to shine down upon the always radiant Railway City - but this time is like no other. In fact, this event is so rare that the next time we’ll get the chance to see it happen here in Southwestern Ontario will be 2144 - in 120 years! By then, the city of St. Thomas will be close to marking its 350th anniversary! My apologies for keeping you in the dark for so long (haha! Get it?), but as I’m sure you’ve already guessed, we’re talking about none other than the upcoming total solar eclipse! Lasting roughly 1 minute and 19 seconds, unfortunately the duration of the total eclipse and its night-like conditions won’t be quite enough to catch up on your beauty rest, but personally, I don’t think this celestial spectacle is something that you’ll want to sleep through! With only a couple weeks to go, the countdown is on and, never fear, Railway City Tourism is here to help you and your family to prepare for this once-in-a-lifetime experience! As we approach 2023, wait… 2024? Already? Wow! Anyways… 2023 is soon to be in the rearview mirror, and I think it's safe to say that it has been quite the year for the Railway City!

Once again, summer has come and gone in seemingly the blink of an eye! The leaves begin to change colours like the sunsets that close the curtains on our now increasingly shortened days, the kids are back in school And we all know what that means… Pumpkin spice season is back, baby! In all seriousness (not that I couldn’t go for a Pumpkin Chai latte right now); Parents - you finally get some “you” time! While beyond rewarding, we know raising a kid is hard work and it can be exhausting balancing that on top of your already packed schedule. But between work, playdates, and, yes, trying to understand the new ways they teach math so you can help your little one with homework (how on earth are you supposed to carry the 7?), St. Thomas has everything you need to add essential self-care into your routine! Embrace the magic of autumn in St. Thomas as we indulge in some beloved traditions! 🍂🍎 From apple picking in picturesque orchards to getting creative with pumpkin carving, we're ready to soak up the vibrant colors and festive atmosphere.
