As summer comes to an end, we are reflecting on some of the events and happenings that we experienced over the past couple months. One in particular that was very special to us was the Mural Festival!
Over the past few years numerous murals have been added to our community through the Track to the Future Mural Project. Over the past couple months, the project has continued and new artists have completed some beautiful works expanding our mural collection in St. Thomas in wonderful ways. The purpose of the mural festival was to get people out and about while immersing themselves in the arts! On that note, we also would like to extend our gratitude to the many local businesses and studios who took part and participated in the event. As a result of this initiative, we are proud to share that approximately eight new murals have been painted! Check them out below... Public art has the power to enrich communities, create captivating spaces, challenge our ideas, provoke discussion or simply add beauty to our day. The “Track to the Future” Mural Project provides an opportunity for artists to create works of art within the downtown of the City of St. Thomas. We are seeking submissions from a variety of artists, with diverse experiences, backgrounds, styles and techniques that reflect our values of creativity, inclusiveness and beauty.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Expressions of interest to submit and create an original design for murals to be painted on small interior walls, located at the St. Thomas Social Services building, 230 Talbot Street in St. Thomas Ontario. |
