Geocaching is a real-world outdoor treasure-hunting game where you use GPS-enabled devices—including mobile apps like Google Maps—to navigate to specific coordinates. (To enter coordinates into Google Maps, use the format: 42 46.665 -81 12.866.) Some geocaches include helpful hints, which you can decode using a provided decryption key. Once you arrive at the location, search carefully to find the geocache—a hidden container that can be any size. A key rule of geocaching is to stay discreet and avoid drawing attention while searching. Inside the container, you’ll find a log sheet to sign (don’t forget a pen!) and possibly some small items. If you take an item, be sure to leave something of equal or greater value in return. Always return the geocache exactly where you found it so others can enjoy the hunt too.
