🏺 Exploring Elgin County’s past through stories, artifacts, and innovation
The Elgin Heritage Centre is the County’s hub for celebrating and preserving local history and agricultural heritage. Located in a modern, purpose-built facility in Central Elgin, the Centre showcases dynamic exhibits that highlight the people, industries, and events that shaped the region—from early settlement and farming traditions to military service, innovation, and everyday life. Formerly known as the Elgin County Museum, the Centre began on the fourth floor of the Elgin County Administration Building in 2006 and expanded into its current home in 2018. This new location offers climate-controlled artifact storage, custom-designed exhibit space, and a growing range of public programs and events. It also supports smaller heritage sites across the region, creating a strong network of county museums and cultural partners. Through rotating exhibitions, school visits, and engaging displays, the Elgin Heritage Centre offers a fresh, accessible way to experience Elgin’s past. ✨ From heirlooms to harvest tools, wartime stories to rural traditions—explore the roots of Elgin County all in one place. local history stories:
