The elevated park was originally a bridge built in 1929 on the western edge of St. Thomas which carried over 40 trains per day. Jumbo MonumentJumbo is a staple of St. Thomas! Jumbo was an African Elephant that was the star of the Barnum and Bailey circus. Jumbo is reputed to be the largest elephant ever in captivity. On Jumbo's second visit to St. Thomas on September 15th, 1885, Jumbo had a fatal collision with a Grand Trunk locomotive.
