#1. the Elevated park

Starting on the very West end of the City (and the beginning of Old Talbot Street, St. Thomas's historically long downtown strip) we come to the St. Thomas St. Thomas Elevated Park - the FIRST and ONLY elevated park in Canada! The elevated park was originally a bridge built in 1929 on the western edge of St. Thomas which carried over 40 trains per day. Now the elevated park has been transformed into an oasis that provides breathtaking views of the outer part of the city. This is without a doubt worth seeing!!

#2. Jumbo Monument

Jumbo is a staple of St. Thomas! Jumbo was an African Elephant that was the star of the Barnum and Bailey circus. Jumbo is reputed to be the largest elephant ever in captivity. On Jumbo's second visit to St. Thomas on September 15th, 1885, Jumbo had a fatal collision with a Grand Trunk locomotive. In his honour, there is a stunning life-size monument of Jumbo and is worth seeing the grand size he once stood. Head down and get your photo taken!
