Try delicious foods from around the world this February.

Global Flavours returns for its sixth year, inviting the community to celebrate the incredible cultural diversity of St. Thomas and Elgin County. This month‑long culinary adventure, created in partnership with Railway City Tourism, Elgin County Tourism, and the St. Thomas-Elgin Local Immigration Partnership (STELIP), highlights the restaurants, bakeries, and cafés that bring global tastes to our region.

Global Flavours began to support local small businesses during the COVID‑19 pandemic, when February was already a traditionally quiet month for restaurants. The event has grown every year and has become a community favourite, expanding from 14 participating restaurants in its first year to more than 20 representing cuisines from around the world. In 2024 and 2025, participants enjoyed choices ranging from Jamaican and Thai to European, Mexican, Filipino, and more.

There are two simple ways to join in:
  • Pick up a Global Flavours Passport: Visit participating restaurants throughout February and collect a stamp each time you enjoy a meal or treat. Two or more stamps enter you into the month‑end prize draw.
  • Use the Goosechase App: Check in at locations, complete fun food‑themed challenges, and earn points. Whether you visit two restaurants or explore the full list, you will be eligible for prize packs at the end of the month.

Why Global Flavours Matters

Every restaurant tells a story. Many of the participating businesses are owned by newcomers and immigrant families who have brought treasured recipes, cooking traditions, and community hospitality to St. Thomas and Elgin County. Global Flavours not only highlights the richness of our local food scene but also celebrates the people behind it and the contributions they make to our growing region.

Last year, participating restaurants represented countries across Europe, Asia, South America, and the Caribbean, showcasing the incredible depth of cultural talent right here at home. We look forward to even more variety and community engagement this year.

Prizes and Giveaways

As always, participants who collect at least two passport stamps or complete two missions on Goosechase will be entered into the draw for prize packs. Prizes are generously donated by local restaurants and partner organizations, a tradition noted in last year’s feature on the 5th anniversary of Global Flavours.
