Behind the scenes of The Back Alley, you'll find a team full of energy and passion! Let me introduce you to the fantastic folks who make it all happen: Rodney Calder, Marianne Calder, Shawn Calder, and Tracy Calder. They kicked off this wild ride on November 21st, 2015, and haven't looked back since! What inspired them to start The Back Alley Bar & Grill? So, why did the team at Back Alley dive headfirst into the music venue scene in St. Thomas? Let’s hear from Tracy Calder herself: “Since living in St. Thomas and loving live music my whole life, and serving in establishments which had live music, I knew it was a great business decision. My father always wanted to open a sports bar, and my brother went to school for culinary arts. We saw the old labour center was up for sale, and it was big enough to put all our ideas and dreams into one building, and we did”. It was a no-brainer to bring the magic of live music to their own stomping grounds! Plus, who wouldn't want to create a space where dreams, delicious food, and heart-pumping music collide? What do they love most about what they do? Tracy’s favourite part of what she does is the incredible people we meet every single day. From their loyal patrons who feel like family to the new faces that brighten up their lives, each person adds their unique flavour to the mix. What is their favourite event? Choosing their favourite event is like trying to pick a favourite song—it's impossible! “With the amount of talent that comes into our establishment, working hard and putting sweat into what they do for just one night, we could never just limit it to one”. The team at The Back Alley notes that their fundraisers are a true inspiration because they involve people selflessly dedicating their time and effort to help others, driven purely by their heartfelt desire to make a difference. What does The Back Alley want to highlight about their business? The Back Alley is excited to announce they have added three mind-blowing simulators on the upper level for some extra fun. Golf or games? The choice is yours! What impact do they have on the St. Thomas community? The team behind The Back Alley makes significant contributions to the community and local music scene. By providing a welcoming space for live entertainment, they offer a platform for local and visiting artists to showcase their talents. With an open-minded approach, they embrace all genres of music and eagerly explore new opportunities to diversify their events.
