Jumbo is kind of a big deal around St. Thomas. His legacy is complicated and conspiracy filled, but his memory lives on and he is well loved by locals and visitors a like. He even got his own episode of The Nature of Things!
We are asked all the time about more Jumbo souvenirs. And because we have such a richly talented community of artists we thought it would be fun to include the community in a fan art contest to create enamel pins. The pins will become available for sale at the Railway City Tourism Office and a few other locations around the city later this year. If you would like the chance to have your art be a part of Jumbo's legacy we want to see it! Designs of Jumbo the Elephant in your artistic style can be of only his face or a full body representation. Because we are turning the design into a pin, the designs should be simple enough to be clear in a small size and include only four colours. The words "Jumbo" & "St. Thomas, ON" should also be incorporated. Send your designs with your full contact information to tourism@stthomas.ca by May 1, 2018. Vector (ai,eps) files are preferred but high quality jpg and pdf images will still be considered. Submission indicates permission to share and use the image throughout Railway City Tourism's media channels and merchandising. A prize is in the works and will be awarded for the winning entry and runner up favourites will be featured on Railway City Tourism channels. Show us your best Jumbo Fan Art!
