February 2nd - Groundhog Day! And I know what you’re thinking “Haven’t we all been living a collective Groundhog’s Day for the past almost 3 years now?” You know, fair enough. But whatever the weather Wiarton Willie predicts, frigid air or no-coat-no-cares, we’ve got some ideas to switch things up! We’ll start with our early spring escapades - hopefully to manifest it! When the temperature goes back up, so do your chances of spotting some splendid Southwestern Ontario native birds. From common, but none the less stunning, cardinals with their signature crimson hue to the Bufflehead ducks and their impressive, almost synchronized swimming routine, check a few more off your list this spring! And don't forget the epic migration of the tundra swans. How many different breeds can you spot? Another nice way you can enjoy the nice weather is to get out there and hit our therapeutic trails! Biking, running, walking, no matter your preference, Angus McKenzie to Whistlestop, the trails are calling your name! Now… Even if our little guy does see his shadow, there’s no need to dread! The Railway City has all kinds of great indoor activities so that you can still have just as much fun, shielded from the wintery world outside. Newly taking up residence at the Elgin Mall, we have Railway 1856 Mini Golf! With an incredible 19-hole course perfectly capturing the charming nature of our city, take your friends and family golfing for an easily guaranteed good time for everyone! We encourage you to explore a bit too! Find some cool things to do inside, make sure to tag us on Social Media @railwaycitytourism when you do!! We love to see it! Shadow or no shadow St Thomas, you’ll have a plethora of opportunities either way! Now get out (or in!) there and have a fantastic February!
