For over forty seasons, the Elgin Theatre Guild has been entertaining audiences with productions ranging from comedic to dramatic. Run entirely by volunteers, the Elgin Theatre Guild now produces four shows a year that bring over two thousand patrons every year through the Princess Avenue Playhouse. Also, the Playhouse is haunted!

We are now in the thick of the cold season (although some may argue you wouldn't know it with the balmy temperatures we've enjoyed)! But things certainly do not come to a halt once the daylight decreases and the snow starts to fall. The St. Thomas Fire Muster Days is a popular Labour Day festival to celebrate fire service workers and build camaraderie among them through competition and other events.
“We look forward to it every year it comes,” said Kim Destun, co-chairwoman of the organizing committee.
The event kicks off Saturday morning with the popular Parade, followed by opening ceremonies, noon at Pinafore. The parade will flow down Talbot to Elgin St., then to Elm St. and out to Pinafore. Opening ceremonies and national anthems follow at noon, and muster competitions begin at 12:30 pm.
"The muster games consist of a bunch of a different skill-based competitions,” Destun said. “But they're just fun, obstacle course-type games is the best way to describe them.”

Canada's birthday is coming up JULY 1st (in case you forgot!) and in celebration of that, we thought we'd dig a little into what makes this country so special.

This summer the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games are happening, which means that after 41 days and 3,000 torchbearers, the torch will arrive in Toronto on July 10th for the opening ceremonies!
We are pleased that out of the 130+ communities, St.Thomas will be one of the cities that the Pan Am Flame comes through!
In honor of this exciting event there will be a torch relay community celebration, which includes two sponsored "fun run" TRAIN RIDES offered at NO COST courtesy of Railway City Tourism and the St. Thomas Economic Development Corporation! The celebration will include speeches, entertainment from our local elementary schools, and most importantly the arrival of the torch.
When: Wednesday June 17th, from 4:30-6:30pm
Where: The L&PS Corridor, 605 Talbot Street, St. Thomas
