The Ontario Tree Climbing Championship takes place every September at a different venue. The OTCC features five preliminary events: a work climb, belayed speed climb, simulated aerial rescue, foot-lock style rope climb and throwline challenge.
The top four men and top two women competitors from the preliminaries advance to the Master’s Challenge, a final event where the Ontario Men’s and Women’s Champion are crowned. These two top climbers go on to compete at the International Tree Climbing Championship the following summer.
Spectators are welcome to attend this free event. A trade show of arborist equipment is featured and spectators can try climbing like an arborist in the “Climb For All Ages” under the guidance of a professional arborist.

As Chef Michael Smith is a celebrator of the local, the event is taking a page from his book and showcasing local beer, wine, cheese, ice-cream and APPLE PIES! Also, a chili cook-off will be happening with none other than YOU as the judge.
Also, get a chance to meet and greet with the great chef himself, learn how to oyster shuck, see a presentation, and get your latest cookbook signed.
This tasty event is not only delicious, but kind-hearted with proceeds going to support Bethany's Hope (leukodystrophy research). So go out and get your tickets, before they are gone!

The London Roundhouse will forever be the location where many Londoners realized their city may not be as safe as they thought. It was there that Tom Zombie officials (among present was TZF Organizing Committee Chairperson Bryan Bakker) released the shocking news that London itself narrowly escaped total zombification; coined a “Tom Zombie Incident”. Bryan Bakker had the following to say on the situation:

Come one, come all! From August 21st to 24th, the 20th annual Iron Horse Festival is making its come-back this year in style; starting with a new location! No longer will the festival be held on Talbot Street, but has been freed into the space adjacent next to the Elgin County Railway Museum: meaning better parking, bigger space, and more fun!

10 Locations, 4 hours, and a series of skill testing riddles: The Amazing Adventure comes to St Thomas.
The St Thomas based race takes you from location to location pitted against teams all competing for the grand prize.
Each location earns you another clue to the next ensuring a puzzling and fun day. Complete the race and return back to Pinafore Park to be entered to win the prize. Back at the park there will also be a BBQ lunch, beer garden, & vendor displays from the Home Based Business Association!
The race is in memory of Kym Hanenburg-Witkowski, a cystic fibrosis patient who sadly lost her battle with cancer earlier this year. Cystic fibrosis is the most common and fatal genetic disease affecting young Canadians with no current cure. The event is to raise funds for CF in Kym's honour and is hosted by the St Thomas Kinsmen with hope that one day a cure can be found.
Registration will be day of the event from 9am to 10am, the race will take approximately 3-4 hours with the live music in the park will taking place from noon until 10pm – admission is free but donations towards the cause are strongly encouraged!
Pledge forms for the event are available at www.StThomasKinsmen.com and pledges can also be made online ($5 minimum).
